Why Radon Test Your Home?
The effects of radon can be devastating. In fact, the EPA considers radon the second-highest cause of lung cancer deaths in the US. As frequently as you hear about the dangers of smoking, and how that can lead to lung cancer, you'd think you would hear about the next biggest cause a little more!
While the state of Rhode Island has more or less moderate levels of radon, the EPA has found high levels of radon in our state. Actually, as many as 1 in 5 homes have elevated levels of radon present. The sooner you find out, the faster you can take action to keep your family safe.
Protect your loved ones against this dangerous indoor air contaminants. Get your home radon tested as soon as possible.
Symptoms of Radon Exposure
Sadly, there are no immediate signs of radon exposure. The gas has no color, no odor, and no evident taste to alert you to its presence. However, over time, it does build up, and problems can arise. Radon testing is the only way to know whether or not dangerous levels are present.
It is believed that children are especially at risk to harm from radon, as are smokers. Water-borne radon can have severe effects as well, including cancer.
Here are just a few of the symptoms of radon exposure:
- Weight loss
- Loss of appetite
- Wheezing
- Hoarseness

- Coughing blood
We hope it goes without saying, but if you do notice any severe symptoms of radon exposure, you should see a doctor immediately.
